Quite surprise you dont know about this and never bother to ask.

If you are using posb/dbs, your best bet is to locate DBS bank in Taiwan with atm facility, provided you remember to enable the magnetic strip on your atm card for oversea usage.

For some people i came across, they carry with them a few hundreds in USD for emergency use.
Like he/she said...
Just sharing ma...
Note can liao.
Tia gong gbp also accepted.

Need advise on how to change SGD to TWD in Taiwan. I think the best rate is from DBS? Which branch to visit and do they accept SGD cash or have to debit from DBS SG account?
Thanks in advance for the advice!

I will not start a flaming war with you. Mon to Fri is obvious banking days in Taiwan.
Your statement is really out of this world.
One word if you need from us:
wow

If it is not your intention to start a flaming war, then watch your choice of words. Of course banks don't open on weekends. I've got more common sense than you think. I'm writing my encounter for others to avoid my mistake. Not everyone is familiar to Taiwan as you. if what I wrote don't applies to you, just skip it, don't have to be rude. this is just basic manners.

actually changing of currency SGD into TWD, do it in SG or in TW more worth it ah? Any gurus can advise? :s11:

Gurus dun have many here, goodus a plenty.
Currently what you can do, check arcade and bank of Taiwan rates online.
If convenient for you to go arcade, go. If not at least need 4 dollars for transport fares/ parking fees etc.
Thus part of the reason who ppl prefer to go Taiwan airport and just change off at a flat fee of 30ntd.

Asia's Largest Bank (or maybe not now) is all over in TW, so I guess no need to worry cant change SGD to TWD even if not in Airport.

chill folks... put it down to a simple misunderstanding.

Anyway there are DBS branches in Kaohsiung which accept SGD, or at least they did when I was there to change currency.

SGD isn't a global currency of trade, so one shouldn't expect it to be accepted everywhere we travel. USD/EUR/GBP is usually a much safer bet.

Ya cool down, some people are just mountain tortoise and don't bother to ask, there are so many banks in KHH. If Singapore is so good, stay in Singapore and be the frog in the well.

Chill everyone!

Advice to change NTD either in Singapore or Taoyuan airport has been mentooned many times in this thread, maybe not within the last 10 pages.

You cannot assume it was never mention. If you have ask you could have save the hassle looking for money changer. I usually will advice you to change a few hundred of USD or GBP so any money changer in Taiwan would gladly take.

I may be running low on NTD, but I'm still not yet desperate to ask for help. I only wrote to share my encounters. Of course, I have no doubt this has been answered within the hundreds of pages... if I bothered to read every single page of it.. damn, I got better things to do. As I said, I'm not desperate yet to need to change ntd. I still have a couple thousands, and with the low cost here, I can easily hang on till my departure. so don't think that I deserved it for not reading thru, and start firing at me as if I'm an easy target. The fact that I didnt bother to ask before I leave simply means I have alternative plans if I can't find a money changer.

Relax everyone. There is always a first time lesson learn. So just take a little of everyone encounter and do a gauge before going to Taiwan. For me, I always change all I need here in SG before I go there. I always feel safer to bring the actual currency with me before I enter the country. There are times I even change extra just to pre amp my friends if they don't have enough. The balance if I still have, I will just bring it back here and change it to those going over.

Nice to have you around especially if you have ppl who over estimated their spending.
A few other resorts to survival in Taiwan: sign card, get your acts to airport, be in taoyuan, songshan or siaogang, change your dole there.
Easily done at anytime, except maybe the first day on lunar new year where they might be closed.

Even though they have DBS there, it's not easily available. Been walking around and taking cabs, but only saw 1 DBS branch.

There are a total of 7 DBS in KHH.

4 are located near Metro Stations that are frequented if you visit KHH. FYI.

Its normal bro, judging from the amount my friends change I will know if they have enough. Just back on 4 Apr for a company retreat in Taiwan. Some of my female colleagues first time there only change $300 SGD. I know confirm not enough for 5 days trip. Shop n eat, on the 3rd day already asking who have excess TWD liao. :s13:
