i know credit card got lousy rate but because i am helping my fren's buy branded bags i need a lot of cash to pay n i am scare to bring so much cash from airport back to hotel leh i am traveling alone...

the rates at arcade and suntec moneychangers are very close to the rates in tw imo.

for expenses in large amts, just use card. the conversion is not that bad. unless you are those who scrimp on $1~2 when u are spending hundreds or thousands

is it better to bring SGD to change at taoyuan airport?

i calculated 1% difference in exchange rate cost like $300++ very expensive

as i said, from my experience is the same. when i went the exchange rate at chinatown was 22.6. i went to suntec their exchange rate was 22.8. i went taoyuan the exchange rate is 22.82. since i'm changing ard 1k sgd, i just made the change at suntec. not so much loss for me.

towards the end of the trip i ran out of cash. so i used visa to sign for my adidas sneakers at their boutique. final bill was 93sgd where locally we easily have to pay 110 for a pair.

and since u are buying for friends, just swipe card and charge them accordingly lor. exchange enuff cash for your own enjoyment.

This is exactly what i told icansing that time..Since anyway u're already doing them a flavour by helping them buy..

Like my friend who went to the states, got her to buy a couple of item and i just pay for her accordingly to her CC bill..

yeah.. i changed at this retail yesterday at 23.4.. however they have revised their rate to 23.3 after I left..

When the rates are about 23+, it would be almost the same or maybe slightly higher than what Taoyuan side is offering...Once it drops to 22 mid, then u will see that Taoyuan side is higher..

Probably gonna fall back soon..

Ya.. The exchange rate is roughly 0.4-0.6 off the real forex rate.. The highest recorded on the forex rate is 24.0X, which means max rate ever achieved was around 23.5-23.6.. The current forex rate is hovering around 23.8, should be somewhere near its peak already.. They raise the rate very slow one, but once drop the rate goes all the way down..
