wah kaohsiung branch very far from my hotel..sian..
tink i change at airport megabank sua..definitely higher than sg arcade rite ?

I thought I saw someone posted the rates at arcade was 23+
In that case negligible difference between arcade and taoyuan airport. So whichever is most convenient for you. Unless you're planning to change > S$10,000, then every cent makes a difference :)

As long as u hit 500-1k, i does make a difference.

Hoing to arcade per trip max 2-4 dollars. Going taiwan dbs banks only abt 1.5-2dollars. And of course to your convenience too. Good to pay bank a visit, then go sys hall to see change of guards.

Ya. But then not always. Need to check periodically. If change 100-200, singapore better. Coz in airport will slap a 30nt surcharge per transaction. Remember it is per transaction.

I guess I would say convenience plays a bigger factor for that kind of amount.
Using NT$40,000 as a basis,
@ 22.9 = S$1746
@ 23.2 = S$1724

Difference of about $22, which (imo) is a small price to pay for peace of mind of having the cash in hand prior to travel, especially if the money changer with good rates was just near my office or home.

but I am also guilty of (illogically) going out of my way to get the best rate possible sometimes, even if the difference is smaller than $22... ~shrug~

wow few months...
Probably not a good idea to bring so much cash over.
Withdraw from ATM would not be getting such a rate, I am quite sure of that.
Some options you can consider:
- bank draft
- money transfer (e.g. western union)
- get a friend/relative to bring over S$ for you to change in Taiwan
