Actually u can test the refurb phone before u leave the service center. I did that, found nothing wrong and left quite satisfied. Of cos, u can't test the battery life until u get home, but i think the refurb phone is supposed to come with a new battery.

If u are still not comfortable with exchanging, the cso will be able to diagnose whether the problem lies with the battery or ur software. For me, the cso scanned my battery and found that safari and a video app are the ones causing my battery drain. If i wanted to retain my phone, all i have to do is to reinstall the os and download the apps from scratch. But i chose to get a refurb set anyways.

Have some confidence in their refurb sets. I read alot of horror stories about defects but when i was there at the service center no one complained. Or u could try the reinstall os method first..

refurbished sets are alright. apple has convinced me that the physical object I hold now is not my real phone. my phone is what I have stored in iCloud, and this is just a physical form for me to access my phone and data.

Unless your iPhone 5 got AppleCare, you won't be able to exchange cos your warranty is over.

By the way, you should have tried 7.0.4 since your iPhone 5 was on 7.0.3.

Anyway all the best to your adventure with Android and Samsung! :s13:

I got a refurbished set for my iPhone 4S when I went down go comcentre however after getting back I reAlise the battery life was worse than my original set. Why I said so was because I had to charge more often than I used to do so.

However that doesn't bother me as my issues from my previous unit were now gone. All I had to do was charge more often that's all. It really depends on your luck what kind of refurbished set u got.
