You can get PCI-E SATA card to add more ports for less than 50 bucks.

Is there any good one that you would recommend (many ports and as many performance as possible?)

What should I look out for when looking at these kind of cards?

I don't need RAID so I guess I am ok with the basic version ba?

I am already on a DIY NAS :)

And in a similar conundrum

Options for TS from cheapest to more expensive

1. Order SI-PEX40064 from ebay / newegg/amazon = <S$70 inclusive of shipping

2. Order from infinity STLAB A-520 with raid function = $100

3. Obtain Probox External Bay connect to PC via USB3 / eSate = $159/169

4. Obtain brande Raid card cheapo one <$199

Decision will largely be whether to keep all HDD in 1 chassis or have multiple boxes for additional hdd.

Other than adding a raid or sata cards.

TS can also do the followings.

Eg. current configurations.

1x 1TB
1x 2TB
1x 2TB
1x 4TB

Buy another 2x 4TB.

Then the 2x 4TB can replace the 1x 1TB & 1x 2TB & you will still have extra 5TB space to spare for many more years to come. And when you almost fill up the last 2TB, change that to another 4TB. Only when you finally fill up all 4 with 4TB drives, then only you consider getting a raid or sata card. By then, probably time to change motherboard or 6TB or 8TB drives will be out & you have more options again.

There are just many ways to solve a problem.

Think out of the box.
