Help: Expedia double charge me

I have made the ticket reservations via Expedia on 7 Oct 2016 (for Hotel and Flight).

However, i received sms from UOB that Airline has transacted the ticket amount from my debit card first then the next day Expedia has also transacted the same amount.

We have verified with airline and was told that we need to contact Expedia directly regarding the transacted amount (S$1788.80) that was charged by them and that they found internal error in system. My bank confirmed that there was double deduction.

I've emailed Expedia but was told to call-in. My calls were usually put on-hold for 45minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. They keep insisting that they are checking with airline and ask me to check with the bank and always mentioned that i need to wait for the next 48 hours to 72 hours just for them to verify or fax information to my bank.

Can somebody please advise me on what can i do next to get my money back? Thank you in advance.

Happened to me few months ago after I requested them to change my flight details due to the Airline changing the original flight schedule. Both Expedia and the Airline say they didn't charge me anything and it was a system error. Only difference was that I am using credit card hence they just blocked the amount in my CC which normally expire after a few days.

Anyway, only advice I can give is to have more patience when talking to them. It took me few calls before I was able to speak to someone who knows what to do with my situation.

Talked to many different operators each with their own opinion yet no solution till today. Kind of worrying that i may not be able to get the money back.

debit card is always a little bit on the losing end as the bank cannot give you a temp reversal like credit cards. However, you should ask expedia to cancel the charge else you just file a claim against them to your bank. note the bank will not refund you the money until the "investigation" is over and this usually takes something like 21 days. don't worry, you should get the money back however just need to wait a while. i've since stopped using debit cards on all online travel payment

Just try to call again Expedia, they should be the one coordinating with the Airline directly. In my case, I don't need to wait more than 24 hours, I just sent them the screenshot of all the charges from my CC statement and they were able to verify it with their ticketing team.

Expedia just called to give them another 72hrs when they have requested for 48hrs on last Monday. Bank advised to wait till 10nov before they start to investigate on duplicate charge to my account. Is there any way I could just easily inform expedia to cancel the charge as they are not keen to refund only to delay the issue?

Called them again today and was told to wait for another 72hrs! When they alr asked to wait for 48hrs since Monday (i've been waiting since 8th Oct anyways). Initially they said it's only holding amt but now even confirmed that there's internal error in system but still not willing to cancel the charge and refund.

complete a dispute form and state reason duplicate charge, insist the bank to start the process. no point waiting until 10 Nov. doesn't make sense

Take money is super fast. Refund is always got long process and red tape. Guess Expedia has no exception.

Dun worry, Expedia still has some reputation and won't "eat" your money.

Just the internal process takes time.

They refunded me the excess cost of the package within a week but not for this extra charge for the flight. They initially claimed that the amt will be reflected back into my acct within 72hrs as of 8th Oct. But since it's already deducted, a refund shd be made but the escalation of the issue seems to delay alot cos of the communication among the customer service.
