This is greatly subjective based on one's spending.

Are you having each and every meal at Family Mart? Are you having 3 meals a day and/or not snacking through the day? Will you be having the cheapest bowl at Yoshinoya for ¥290 or ramen at ¥800-¥1200/bowl?

Are you going to walk or take the trains or taxis? Are you intending to do any shopping or not?

I would say, bring Singapore $2000 for your 9 days trip. The figure is not based on anything but just for the sake of answering your question

Anyway I normally exchange around sgd2.5k for my Japan trips (2 weeks 2 people). But lately credit card adoption increasing liao so maybe next trip will exchange less.

for me i use the equivalent of $100 per day, which in japan is ¥10,000.

plenty of room to shop, eat and take transport.

I usually have $120-150 per pax per day for expenses (excl. hotel). But usually got excess at the end of the day, which i keep for next trip.

I now change so much lesser due to use cc and virtual suica upload to iphone I can top up even in singapore and when in I just tap and go on train or purchase food

Now change sub $1k

Thanks all. I only go for sightseeing. wun be shopping much. All the hotels already booked and paid. The money that i going to change is for simple meals, travelling exclude the train and some simple snacks to bring back sg. I heard there not easy to find money exchanger so was figuring how much should I bring. of course will reserve for emergency cases. appreciate the suggestion you guys gave.

For me, 1 month trip will need to have around 6k sgd

So yours maybe 2k sgd per pax, the rest use cc

9 days bring 100k yen should be more than enough as a solo traveller.

10k per day food + train * 9 = 90k

left 10k as spare cash

remaining cash go airport buy snacks for family
