Sharing my experience. I will skip the standard 14D quarantine as you will find more information on that across the internet.
Cons:
1. Payment methods
Foreigner has no straight forward ways of obtaining wechat pay and alipay. Even if you bind foreign cards to wechat, they wont be accepted when you try to make payment in most cases. alipay tourpass charges 5% for each topup starting this year. its a killer.
Mobile payments is primary choice across whole country.
Even Local issued cards (unionpay) are only 50% accepted across eateries and retail. (bigger sizes) Foreign cards 90% of the chance are not accepted even across bigger sizes retail.
Cash generally 50% accepted across eateries and retail.
2. Language
If you cant understand or speak chinese, you will have a hard time.
3. Culture
The locals here basically talk more loudly, spit in public, push when you are in their way such as in crowded places like more touristy spots and mrt.
4. Food
Mostly chinese food around. International cuisines also exist like basic western food such as burgers but they are quite rare.

1. City place like Singapore and Taiwan. Amenities all within the area.
2. Established public transport (mrt) to get around.
3. Natural scenery is beautiful and there are many across the country.
