Experiencing issues with activity tracking apps

I'm using a Xiaomi phone and my activity tracking apps (Endomondo and Strava) keep hanging on me halfway through. Played around with my battery saving permissions but it's still happening. It's really frustrating. Anyone experiencing the same issue and have a solution?

you should also check if the apps are allowed to use GPS when the screen is off....
