is n3... the question is

あたらしいテレビを子供に____________

1) 壊した

2)壊された

3)壊させた

4)壊させられた

correct answer is 2.

This kind of mcq question is damn stupid for a Japanese test. That's why JLPT is stupid. Answer can be 4 as well.

That's how jlpts are nowadays. Too many PRCs able to pass the MCP previously just by chionging and memorizing the grammar rules book without understanding the semantics. So they put some traps (grammatically correct but might not make sense in common day to day life occurrence) to weed out such candidates.

Dimitri_can from the Japan section could probably explain more.

All the best for that :) Most issues with JLPT takers are more on speaking and writing, I passed N2 (borderline pass) but still sucks at talking and pitch pronunciation :s13:

Ahaha reading and writing and speaking is no problem for me. Listening is the issue. I just started learning like 1 year ago and I learn once a week. However, I study on my own and I am able to read japanese newspapers and even their uni level thesis papers lol

what is the difference between the following two sentences and why is the first one the correct answer?

1)あたらしいテレビを子供に壊された。

2)あたらしいテレビを子供に壊させられた。

both are causative passives right?

my wife said both aren't wrong depending on context.
