Has anyone tried to get a refund from expired cashcard recently? My card expired recently so I tried to get a refund through an ATM. However the machine cancelled the transaction citing that the card has expired. Duh... tried to reach NETS but their hotline didn’t have to option to speak to a human being and there is no response to the message I sent them through their website. Sad because I just topped up my card without knowing it was going to expire...

Nets hotline is always experiencing high call volume, I am inclined to think it’s on perpetual auto machine
Thanks guys. Seems like DBS/posh atm is not expired cashcard friendly. I would try using another local bank atm. Anyway I received a response from NETS and this is what they said
“ Kindly be informed that a full refund of the card is available for up to two years after a NETS CashCard expires.
Do note that the card cost of $5 is non-refundable.
After the two years grace period, a S$1 monthly service charge will be deducted from the card until the balance is depleted.
The cardholder shall not be entitled to a refund after the lapse of four years from the expiry date.
You may wish to perform a refund of your NETS CashCard at:
(i) Any local bank Automated Teller Machines (ATMs)
for an immediate refund.
(ii) Any UOB and OCBC bank branches for a manual refund,
- Get a NETS CashCard Refund Form from the Customer Service Counter
- Fill up the form legibly.
- Tear and keep the last copy of the refund form.
- Enclose your NETS CashCard and the form into the refund envelope.
- Seal the envelope.
- Deposit the envelope into the NETS CashCard Refund Box located at the counter.
Upon receipt of the card from the respective banks, the refund will be processed within 14 working days.
(iii) NETS office at 298 Tiong Bahru Road, #06-01 Central Plaza Singapore 168730...”

No refund for expired cashcard via POSB/DBS ATM. The transaction will terminate.
Not possible via NETS machines at car parks too. The only consolation it will give you a print out of your card balance.

I went to NETS office. They need your card as well as ATM card to do the transfer.
1st try transaction failed. CS then used rubber eraser to clean the contact chips. After that AOK.
One can do own refund on expired cards (not exceeding 2 yrs after expiry).
If the ATM refund transaction failed, very likely the contact chips are dirty and need cleaning.
Save you all the hassle to go to NETS office or via post refund process.

glad i found your post~ kena the same thing, cashcard expired on last day of 2019~ read thru NETS faq and even call the hotline, which apparently no option to speak to operator~ had tried POSB ATM to refund but it gave an expired cashcard message~
then i tried your method at OCBC ATM and it works~! bet NETS don't even want the consumers know abt this~

Sorry to necro this thread but the responses were helpful. This was top ten result for cashcard refund on google search. 
Nets' own website doesn't even state where to refund cashcard in their FAQ, looks like they scrubbed all the old info because I did recall it had the info long ago.
Anyway I tried refunding my expired cashcards on two different POSB/DBS ATM, all didn't work. Tried it on OCBC ATM and first card worked. Second card got error message so I cleaned the chip contact on the card with my thumb and shirt and it worked.

Always been the case... unless the ATM can't read the card, then you need to bring it to the NETS service centre.
