Ext hard disk recommendations

Any recommendations for external hard disk deal?

There are only 3 HDD makers left in the world... Seagate, Western Digital or Toshiba. Alot of third party use WD, but my experience with them not good. Cannot remember if its Iomega or Imation which uses WD. Anyway my data inside are as good as lost cause the HDD won't spin anymore.

Anyway long story short, I am now using Toshiba Canvio Ready. So far so good, but I am thinking of getting a Seagate Backup Plus Slim too.

Both my 4 years + Touro Mobile 1TB & few months old WD Ultra 2TB still working. Using both almost every day.

Sony (Some model uses Seagate/Samsung HDD) or Seagate.
Sony have one that have rubber padding HD-SP1.
That one if drop or expose to water won't spoil.
Useful if you intend to bring the HDD outside.

I have good experience with Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB. Got them from Amazon.

i'm using Buffalo ministation extreme. Now i want to buy another 2TB but it seem that I cant find it in SG anymore

Statistically, 1 drive and 5 years mean nothing.

Like that my poor Samsung 1TB 3.5" is considered godlike?
