ext hard drive with sd card reader OR additional USB port

I want to backup my photos/videos on the go, without a laptop/desktop.

Other than the WD Wireless Pro or Gnarbox, any other cheaper alternatives?

no streaming features required. just need an integrated SD card reader for copying, OR extra USB port for connecting SD reader to the drive itself for transfers.

Is your photos stored in your phone? You can set up a Nas with nextcloud to sync you photos. Or if you don't mind Google having your photos then use Google photos, but do know that Google compresses photos and videos stored.

If stored in an SD card then maybe use a SD adapter for your phone to sync the photos

we are talking about 42MP RAW files straight from SD card, and 200GB/day x 1 week. so cloud is definitely out when travelling.

we are talking about 42MP RAW files straight from SD card, and 200GB/day x 1 week. so cloud is definitely out when travelling.

Depending on you internet speed it may be practical. I sync my photos that way when I was in south Korea. You may want to leave the backup syncing overnight? If not a powered HDD that can be connected to your phone and SD card may suffice?

definitely not practical for overseas usage when I need to depend on Hotel WiFi or my limited 4G sim card..

not ideal to go with SSD, otherwise I could just buy dozens of SD cards to use on the go.

this is perfect for what I need, but after looking at the reviews, seems that it has issues even handling 64/128GB sd cards.. any alternative close to this product?

I tried this setup before. quite unreliable as there is a tendency for the hard drive to disconnect at times (which may kill all my data at once).

I had the same issue. It seems to be that my phone can't supply power consistently to the usb HDD. Getting a portable HDD with an external power supply solved it
