External drive with a USB-C connection?

Hi,

Apologies, this is a total noob question but I don't know who to ask. I want to purchase an external drive and connect it to a computer or a video switcher that both have a USB-C socket. But all the drives I see in the shops have a USB-A cable... Will it work if I simply use a USB-C cable instead, or do I need to purchase a specific drive for that?

Look for Samsung T5/T7 SSD, all are using USB-C port.

Thanks but I need a 5TB disk and SSD would be way too expensive.

For some reason I can't find an online store that mentions if the drive comes with a USB-A or USB-C cable. Even on the official Seagate website they don't mention it.

if like this ah, suggest u get a hard drive dock and source the 5tb disk separately. orico docks use standard usb interfaces like micro usb and type c, so can just get cables with type c on one end for ur com and the correct plug on the other for the dock.

5TB external use smr. it is dam slow. having usb c or micro usb is irrelevant. 8TB wd external is faster.

Go lazada toshiba official shops, they have the large capacity USB-C portable hdd.
or just get a $0.50 USB C adaptor from shopee... works for all my toshiba portable HDD, samsung SSD, phones, Macs.

Something like the ATEM Mini Pro/Extreme/ISO? I'd check the specs and user reviews first, the tried and tested one seems to be the Samsung T5. T7, quite a number reported compatibility issues. Much less HDD, may not even work. If referring to another switcher that supports HDD, please ignore this post

I got an internal HDD which i now place inside a case with usb C connection. The case i buy less than $10 on shopee
