Hello, beside WD passport series is there anything other external hard disk which have hardware encryption? Is there a similar hard disk from buffalo?

And where to get external hard disk nowadays? Amazon? IT show? Or just grab from SLS?

Thanks!

Don't bother with WD so called hardware encryption, if you want to encrypt your written data on the fly, Win10 comes with free bitlocker.

Why WD Hardware Encryption not good?

Bitlocker only available for windows 8 and 10 if I remember correctly.

I used to use TrueCrypt but it takes quite a while to access a 500gb HDD, it takes even longer for VeraCrypt, that is why I considering to try out Hardware Encryption for 1 or 2 tb HDD.

bitlocker comes with win10 pro only. home (in most pcs) don't have.

Win 7 Ultimate and Win 8 Pro also have Bitlocker.
However, I think all versions can unlock and read drives which are secured by Bitlocker.

Bitlocker is software encryption.

What TS is asking for is hardware encryption using the manufacturer's firmware or a dedicated encryption chip inside.
