Hi guys, I encountered a problem when I plug in my external hard drive.

Western Digital 640GB Go
Model: WD6400E035-00.

After plugging in, all my folders appeared as normal. But when I tried clicking on the folders, there is no response and the computer hang for a few minutes.

Anyone knows what type of problem is this and is there any chance of recovering the data and the estimated price as well. Thank you!

Have you tried changing cable/port/PC etc?
Since your drive still can be detected, possible software can recover the data. Read this.

Thank you bro, I tried changing cables and plug into different PC but the same problem, folders can be detected but cannot open. I will try the methods listed in the thread and hopefully it works.

Use Data Recovert Tool

Download latest copy of Kernel for Windows Data Recovery software and recover the data. This software is capable of recovering data even from the formatted partitions.

Your drive has encountered serious bad sectors or one of the heads is damaged.
Data is still recoverable using specialised data recovery tools to read the data head by head.
PM me if you need more detailed information.

This is a hardware problem. It cannot be solved by software.
You need the services of a professional data recovery centre.

At this stage, your data is still recoverable at a reasonably low cost.

Hello.
How to know whether its hardware or software problem?
My friend got a old 1.5TB, during move house then try to connect.
Some funny sound and beeping sound.
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Does the price differ from repairing the HD or recover/transfer to a usable HD.

Could be connection problem or disk heads got dislodge during shifting.

Try different PC, change power and sata cables.
Hope it can work so no need for repairs.
