External HDD back up storage

2.5" vs 3.5"
USB powered vs external powered

Used occasionally like once a fortnight to back up videos, photos etc from main pc

Which is a better buy? External drive unlikely needs to be brought ard.

Any recommendations?

Hitachi HGST 4TB extHDD $160... but now seems like no more on sale already.

why reason why?

1) 3.5" only have 4TB and above, unless old model
2) 2.5" have up till 4TB max only
3) 3.5" would need an external power supply to power it up, 2.5" will just be plug and play

So if you need less than 4TB, can just get the 2.5", if you need more than 4TB, only 3.5" is available.
If you need to travel with it, get the 2.5", if not get the 3.5"
