What I did for simplygo card Is
1) block the card in simply go app
2) refund to my bank account by providing my bank acc number in app as it prompt. It'll ask if u want to transfer the amount to your other simplygo card instead but I will select refund to bank.

For non simplygo less than $80 can get cash back over counter. I'm non sure for simplygo they allow you to do that. The very last time I went they ask me to Block and refund via app. Takes weeks for the refund to be in to my bank

There is option to refund to my bank account directly from the app? Cool man. I don't even know. Thanks so much boss.

Not long ago.... i try simplego card on the counter but they told me to fill up the form and wait for few working days to transfer to bank.... in the past normal ezlink card instant refund directly from counter.... that the best.

Instant refund is for non-simplygo card with less than $80 balance. Those more than that have to fill forms and it take weeks to refund to bank.

For simplygo card I have refunded twice both via blocking the card in app and select refund to bank and provide bank acc number will do. Though it take weeks for the money to come back to bank but at least no need to go down to passenger service

I keep wonder why simplygo card so special.

Usually old ezlink card can instantly refunded from the counter below $80 value but its require at least 1 week or 2 weeks for simplygo card.

Anyway thanks for clear explain as i no need to rush down to counter as there is option on the app itself.

Apparently the passenger service counter has less control given over the amendment of our simplygo card. For example in the past if we tap out but the system didn't capture it (missing tap out) we can go to the control station ask them to rectify it instantly.

But for simplygo cards we only can apply for refund of overcharge due to the missing exit in the simplygo app. And it take days to wait for approval and further extra days for money erroneously charged to be back to our acc let's say the claims is approved.

Which I believe many elderly will just suck it up and leave it if they are not tech savvy.

The passengar service counter and control station staffs have less access to make amendment to our Simplygo cards unlike before.

Glad you found your solution :)

they are terrible when it comes to admitting their own fault when customers suffer from 'missing exits' and try to claim refunds for over-charging.

you need to show proof of your journeys - or else they'll reject your claim. so, those who're not tech savvy like the elderly are most disdvantaged, and also those who don't bother checking the transactions (because it's just a couple of dollars, automated charging, etc.).

at least for the past few months I have not experienced 'missing exit' issues when taking buses (touch wood). last time it's like once or twice a month, because the reader on the buses are super unreliable. I have to often tap twice (yes, kiasi a bit) just to be more sure that the reader captured my card when exiting the bus.

Old ezlink card you can top up any excess from your ezlink wallet direct into your old card. This is one extra advantage.
Disadvantage is when you receive any transport vouchers from govt, they only allow you to top up in-app onto simplygo card.
You can also top up simplygo cards for your family via simplygo app without their cards being present. Don't think this can be done for old ezlink card.

So got good got bad. Got to weigh the pros and cons.

Previously I went to physical machine to top up $10 to my ezlink card. Amount deducted but it wasn't added into my card. Scratch my head I tried top 2 more times via different cc. Yet again all the funds deducted but amount still not in. It took me like 1 month to to and fro their cs to get my $30 back. After show proof of receipts they still ask for proof from cc statements. This is really a waste of time. Imagine if I didn't monitor my $30 gone for good as they only refund after I voice out. Else they also don't know these incidents happen. No auto refund activated which I do not know why.

My relative even funnier. He tap his wallet and one shot deducted fare over a few cc. And he didn't know can claim back via simplygo app as he didn't download. By the time he knows can claim back is already too late.
