Hello all,

I currently got a MBA with mavericks that I'd love to factory reset it /wipe all data.
The last time i deleted all the data and tried to internet recovery it didn't work as there was some problems with Singtel, ended up going back to the store I purchase to help me restore..
I also do not have an usb recovery, could you guys recommend what to do??
Is there any certified stores in singapore that could factory reset my MBA?

Thanks, help would be appreciated.

Mavericks itself has a recovery partition on the drive. If u really want, shut down and plug in ur AC power. Turn the AC power on first.

Press ppwer on button and hold down ALT key at the left side, recovery partition will pop out for u to select. Click on thr drive and the arrow up button and then wait for firther instructions..

After that u can just follow the on scree. Instructions..

Since he cannot perform OS X installation using internet recovery, therefore installation using Recovery Partition will produce the same fault. When you perform an OS X reinstallation using recovery partition, it will still need to download the OS X installer from Apple server so that makes no difference if the Singtel connection is blocking ports required by Apple.
Recovery partition does not store OS X installers on it, the partition itself is less than 1GB of space(at least for me is 650mb for os x yosemite beta), you can run terminal command "diskutil list" to see.

Asris-MacBook-Pro:~ MrAZ$ diskutil list
/dev/disk0
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: GUID_partition_scheme *60.0 GB disk0
1: EFI EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1
2: Apple_CoreStorage 59.7 GB disk0s2
3: Apple_Boot Boot OS X 134.2 MB disk0s3
/dev/disk1

The only way to bypass this is to create yourself a USB recovery disk to install OS X Mavericks locally without the need for internet connection, you need a flash drive or an unused portable HDD with at least 8GB of storage.

Have you reviewed the following article? - Creating a bootable OS X installer in OS X Mavericks

If it's a little too technical, you may refer to an easier method @ How to make your own bootable OS X 10.9 Mavericks USB install drive | Ars Technica

If you are willing to pay for someone to do this, Apple Authorised Service Providers does OS X reinstallation with a fee, i think $150(why pay when you can do it for free?) :s13::s13:

during the reinstallation process, you will have chance to invoke disk utility. there, you can do secure formatting of your hdd. but it will take time. I usually use 1 pass of zero write. apple has 7 passes option.
