Hello everyone, I have a question, which I hope to clarify here. May i know what are the differences between ACCA and CPA? Which of these two, are of a more recognized accrediation(in terms of internationally)?

CPA(singapore) or CA(singapore) is a licence which allows you to audit financial statement in SINGAPORE and countries where they have mutual agreement


ACCA is similar CPA(United Kingdom) which allows you to audit financial statement in United Kingdom. However, CPA(singapore) and ACCA have mutual agreement which allows ACCA members to audit financial statement in Singapore, BUT there are some changes recently, and exact details are not known yet.



Conclusion: Because of the uncertainty, don't take ACCA until more information is released, go for CA recognized degree and CA(Singapore). NOTE: ACCA's oxford brookes degree in accounting is not recognised by CA(singapore)..

For ur second qns about which one more recognized internationally, the ans would be CA(singapore) in very near future. WHY? The outset CA(singapore) is to be prestigious. They are likely to get mutual recognition with Aus, UK, USA and Hong Kong.

On the other hand, ACCA aims to promote and improve accounting standards and education globally, not trying to be the most prestigious qualification. If you read up more about ACCA, you will notice that they have joint exam scheme with many developing countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Greece, Jamaica, Cambodia, Cyprus, etc..

Trust me, spend some $$ take an accounting degree first. If the new CA(singapore) choose not to recognise ACCA, it will be much harder for ACCA affiliate to find jobs in singapore. Without exp you cannot qualify as ACCA member. Not any suka suka acct asst jobs can qualify u as ACCA member
