Failed head = dead drive?

hey guys i have a 320gb seagate momentus portable drive. just realize that it have a fail head. does it means that i wont be able to get back my data as there is not fixing it?

Failed heads does not equal data loss. Heads can be replaced. It depends how valuable the data is to you. Data recovery centers can recover the data.

Btw, how did you conclude the heads have failed.
