To be honest, if it is for an old system, I will just buy from reputable server parts resellers who stripped from decommissioned servers/workstation. It would be dirt cheap.
Memtest is a stress test, you wanted to check the RAM info only right? Anyway why don't you go download it and try? You can use it on any system, including your current one.What about memtest86?

generally i would say buying from taobao is safe, but my original stick of some random chinese brand 8gb ddr3 failed on me after only 1 year of use, which caused me to buy the crucial ram i mentioned above.Taobao my choice.
