Dear all,

How does the family sustain the cost of living in Thailand? I understand they sold their flat and everything but how they can survive when two are not working anymore?

Confidence for the future. More good years ahead... Let us take Singapore forward together.
Thank you.

Elise Liang struggled at an elite Singapore school, prompting her family to relocate to Thailand and Malaysia for a less stressful life.

The family prioritised time together and a slower pace, with Ms Ang homeschooling her daughters and focusing less on academic achievements.

Elise excelled in IGCSE Maths, achieving the world's highest score, validating their decision to pursue an alternative education and lifestyle.

Sometimes it's d environment n educational method. N 1 size doesn't fits all.

A person still needs to be educated n seek knowledge.

But doesn't seem worth it in sg now. Seeing high paying pmet jobs going to foreigners n the graduates unemployment situation.

U might graduate from nus or ntu. But you're still gonna be commanded from someone elsewhere who hv a degree from a uni 100s in d ranking behind yours.
What I see is a weakling family moving to avoid comparisons and stigma of failures. If you are in an absolute toxic environment where your own family members do nothing except to compare each other's offsprings, this is usually the outcome; weaker ones move out.

I don't buy into the what top education , top exam results and the top uni claims by our scholars... Cos to me..how many of the scholars managed to create or invent something? How many managed to found their own startups...

Those are the gauge I used to measure the quality of our scholars
whoever came up with that erp 2 obu should be sent to imh

Normal? Not good not bad?

Unless u like some of the scholars always going around proclaiming themselves as the top smartest ppl in the company
Does Singapore have a choice? I can only blame myself for being born into a nation state where IQ is highly admired. LKY openly declared his IQ and his love for intelligence.

If cannot even cope in an elite school, they won't be able to cope anywhere. More like the father likes siambu

Stress is self induced. Neighborhood school cannot meh? Why only aim elite school?

Tis is akin to quitter Liao. Still remember last time when tis term quitter is in vogue? Referring to ppl who left or give up on sg.

Like some ex pm dottor.

Quiet quitting refers more to ppl in jobs who just does d bare minimum to me.

yeah I know my comment was rhetorical and shining light on the face the elite take any and every step to not criticise women.

Actually.. If their child can't cope elite school, why not transfer to neighbourhood schools? Why the need to transfer to another country where it'll be harder to find job and way less pay? School life is just 1/5th of people's lifespan. The other 4/5th is surviving in the real world.

No matter where you are, you still need money first to achieve less stressful life and spend more time together. I'll assume maybe they have enough to retire for the rest of their life for themselves.. but what about their children and grandchildren who will eventually be born there?

Let's face reality. SG may have more competitive environment, it's still a better place than most parts of the world to live and raise kids here. It's because first & foremost you need money and stability to do anything else in life like having more time with family, more leisures, less stress life or even travel to other countries.

Every thing in Asia is about branding, the shirt you wear, the phone you use, the place you stay and the people you hang out.

if you get out of the environment that creates comparison, you don’t have all of these in your mind. People like me low iq, essentially the people I used hang out previously are either working at Han’s or low level worker. So I don’t have that level of stress. I earn less, spend less so money is no issue.

I’m happy spending $3.40 cai png doesn’t mean the majority likes it. It’s affordable to me, while others may see it as a sign of poverty
