I am building a new rig. The one complaint I have of my current rig is that it is too noisy which is an issue when I am playing game/working and my other half is trying to sleep.

Please recommend a rig config that is fanless or at least very quiet? What should I look out for?

Cost, speed, noise, size, effort

Pick your combination

Or just wait a while for EDMW people to offer their definition of quiet.

Try it without casing. Cpu HS no fan. Gpu no fan. Everything is cool by the surrounding. If ur room got aircon even better. Many have done that.

Buy ear plugs for your other half. :s13:

Alternatively, invest in a fan controller and replace your existing fans with Gentle Typhoons. I'm using GTs and all I hear is a gentle swooosh ...

My rig is relatively quiet. Usually the GPU creates the most noise while gaming so a watercooled GPU is something you may want to look into. I GPU is 51C under load playing The Division at ultra settings and the fan noise of the radiator is Ok to me. Else can reduce the fan speed and have it very quiet under load but GPU temps will go to 65-67C. Your pick

I have a define r5 non window version on my desk like 30/45 cm away from me and it's pretty quiet. Maybe research on a case that has noise-reduction foam on all sides and not exposed on the top?
