Higher GHz doesn't mean performance~ still depends on the architecture. AMD is selling 5GHz out of the box though. But it doesn't mean that it is better.

Is the technology or architectural implemented on the chip itself.

Higher freq =/= faster processor.

But one thing for sure gaming is moving on to multi cores where AMD is more likely to be on an advantage soon.

It's like...

Route A - 100m, in 1min it can used to deliver 100 times
Route B - 150m, in 1min it can used to deliver 70 times

Let say the Ghz in CPU is the speed to deliver, both of them uses the same speed but the Architecture (which is the road) is better, Route A which is used to depict a CPU with better Architecture @ the same GHz will perform better.

If Route B would be faster (or higher GHz),

In terms of CPU,
A - 3GHz, better architecture
B - 3.5GHz, lousier architecture

both will perform the same.

It's not just architecture. IPC plays a huge role too.

Amd architecture is highly focus on parallel computing. That's why it's single thread performance not as fast as intel.

How can a person say an architecture is good or bad without knowing the main focus of the product.

1) Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.5GHZ
2) Intel Core i7 3.5GHZ

So both have similar performance? The answer is no
as the processor architecture is different.

Last time 10 years ago single core we look @ Mhz/Ghz.
Now Quad Core liao and architecture also all change liao.
