Feedback on Bangkok Itinerary

Will be heading to Bangkok from 22/12 - 27/12. Please give some feedback for my itinerary, anything Ive missed out, as well as whether the restaurants i've mentioned are worth going. First time going to Bangkok with my family so we hope to cover as much as possible.

I encounter ThaiSmileConnect website [thaismileconnect.com/] that rents Portable Mifi for tourists in Thailand. Has anyone tried it before? Do you think this is more worth it than buying 3G Data Cards since each of us require 3G Data.

Just my 2-cents worth. For your travelling from asiatique to Soi 38 Sukhumvit , u might wanna prepare at least 1 hour of travelling time due to traffic jam along the way.

I am not sure which area you stay but i suggest you group the areas that are near onto a day itself as i noticed on the first day already you are going to chatuchak and coming back to Siam for dinner. If you gonna shop till you drop at chatuchak, i would suggest you finish dinner at chatuchak as well.

For the 3G data sim, i recommend using AIS 1-2Call sim card. For about 350baht you can get 1GB of data. more than sufficient for normal usage + facebook uploading of photos lol

2. Wat Phra Kaew (inside palace grounds)
3. Wat Pho (walk from palace)
4. Wat Arun (walk from Wat Pho to Tien pier (N8) and take the short ferry across)
5. Asiatique
6. Sukhumvit Soi 38 food street

its not very nice to be frank.

can easily spend 1 entire day at CTC.... are you sure you have time for siam? maybe just at night only...

recommend that you visit wat pho, Wat Phra Kaew, grand palace together in the morning. Wat Pho opens slightly earlier so you might want to start with that. Wat Arun is very beautiful in the evening. you can watch the sunset over nagaraphirom park, or dine at the deck to get a nice evening view of wat arun.

For asiatique you can easily spend 4 hours or more there... hmmm

if im not wrong som tam nua is near siam. better you visit it when you're in siam area.

also, pratunam and platinum mall are close by so combine these on the same day.

exactly! i didnt actually go to nagaraphirom park but read about it online.
heard it's a great and free place to watch sunset over Wat Arun. My schedule was too packed so didn't try to find this place.

@grungeattitude I read CTC closes at 6 thats why I put the Siam Malls for the night. Just look see only. Other than the deck, any other dinner places would u recommend for a good night view of the river?

Steve cafe and cuisine is quite good. And if you dont mind paying more, dine or have drinks at the sky bar or restaurant of lebua at state tower. Bird's eye view of bangkok skyline.

I took package tour to Ayutthaya at 1200 baht, from 9-5pm and visit 5 temples with buffet lunch and return transport...

i dun like tours. i can take my own sweet time exploring the place out.. not so rush also.

Tours- convenient, you get a bit of introduction/background on the attraction, logistics all covered, sometimes food included
Self-plan – gotta do a lot of homework, but can explore at your own pace, visit more unique places not often covered by tours

personally i like to do a lot of planning so self-plan is my typical approach.
but you gotta do like A LOT of planning to make the trip a very good/smooth one.
