can prevent this by making it viewable if they choose to. like the ignore function.

i thought knowing that u are being blocked may make u a better person. like u will wonder how come u go into a thread then see got 10 ppl inside block u, u cfm know u got problem and will reflect on it. of cause again, im not taking the infamous members into considerations.

maybe some fine tuning will work, maybe not. i see this being a mean of helping you guys manage this forum.

What if you just block / ignore the person to troll him / her?

IRL example:

Xiao Ming: Oei all of you don't talk to Jame ok?
All: *block*

A system like this will not give means of control in such situations. And considering how smart our forum users are, sooner or later they will figure out how to use the block /ignore function to their advantage.

X likes dogs. Thinks they are best animals in the world. A, B, C and etc come into thread saying they prefer cats. Block block block. Whole thread becomes dog lovers.

Don't need to worry about trolls, forum has rules to deal with such behavior. Why do you think I got infractions for insulting people last time before I became an ex-troll?

My 2 cents since i finally got some time to type WOT.

This is a bona fide attempt at self moderation. Face it, with or without this feature, forum members are already making their own enclaves and attempting to peer bully certain members, be it deserving or not. It is just a formalization of the dislike of each other.

It is this dislike that makes it such a headache for the moderators in general - side with either one and the other calls foul, bias and dragon becomes a left on the shelf old woman who takes his loneliness out members again.

Now they have a way to moderate content themselves... They take responsibility for what they want to see or not. One major advantage i can see from this is that nobody changes unless they want to themselves. If they wanna stay blind and ignorant of the alternative views.... Nothing others say will change that. But if they start to get curious and log out/unblock/unignore, maybe they will be more receptive as well in the long run.

Worst case scenario is they ignore each other forever... Less headache for moderators anyway...

An post upvote/downvote system might be interesting and shows everyone whose views/posts are unpopular.
Posts that hit certain vote number gets hidden inside something like a spoiler tag and can be opened by anyone who wants to see the downvoted post.

Even logged in lurkers can have an opinion without exposing identity.
