I've sent a feedback to Apple, hopefully it will be implemented in future..

----------------

Dear all,

I come from Singapore, a tiny dot within South east Asia. In Singapore there's a huge demand for consumers for iphones. Every launch is littered with queues everywhere within the resellers and epicentres.

However, if you could somehow conduct an audit in Singapore, you would be surprised at the service standards we are receiving in ALL our stores. Its atrocious.

I have heard much about the genius stores in US. May i boldly request for a store in Singapore?

I went to Hongkong a month ago and was astonished to see the brand new apple building within Central itself! It was sleak and nicely made with customer service personnel smiling at every customer that went into the store. It was a wonderful experience. I can assure you that this was not the case in Singapore.

I personally guarantee that.

The only viable choice for us to experience a service much like those advertise by you and your management team is, through the apple online store. That is the best customer service level we could experience, abeit over a phone call, minimising any personal touch between CSO and potential customers.

I hope my feedback is appreciated and would hope to see a new apple store in Singapore, with genius personnel serving us. Thanks.

The only reason I look forward to having an AppleStore right here in SG would be the Genius Bar.

Doesn't really make much difference where I buy Apple products locally. Usually, what the resellers' bundles with the Apple products is the main differentiator.

I prefer to plan my purchase around my overseas trips. On my last trip, bought a 15" rMBP at AppleStore Ginza and enjoyed almost S$500 savings.

And as for iPhone purchase, I would likely get mine at my preferred telco. I buy my iPhone with a contract.

And I believe with regard to stock availability of newly released iPhones, I gather it would be easier to get hold of a couple of iPhones from telcos rather than AppleStore (be it online or its glass, brick & mortar stores).

So TS did you buy anything from HK's AppleStore? If not, you missed out on earning yourself some savings.

yeah.. the Apple Store itself is really an experience. Beautifully designed with their iconic table arrangements, glass spiral staircase & great service..
Finally experienced them at Amsterdam, Prague, Italy & Paris. Makes me think, how come they have not open in Singapore?!

It's also about the staffing. Apple can open a retail store in Singapore, but if the staff are not going to treat each and every customer with respect (as they do in the other stores worldwide), it's going to be quite the joke.

And when they realise that Singaporeans in general just are not bothered to sincerely render the service levels required, they might then turn to foreigners to staff these Apple stores. And then we have a new set of problems, including foreigner lynching.

Lose-lose situation? Perhaps. But this lousy service is able to continue only because consumer protection for locals is non-existent: it exists in name only. Why do the local sales people prefer to service foreigners, especially "ang-moh" clients? Simply because Singapore's tourism authorities protect the tourists more - a single complaint can yield so much damage, and you would not know if the ang moh is a tourist or a local resident. Add the fact that it is their culture to tip, and that they are generally more well-off, and it's no surprise why the locals get third-class treatment in our own home country.

What is really needed is a shaking up of mindset. If we think about it, who the local Apple store be staffed by? The short answer - people who work in the current apple authorised resellers.

For those of us who are old enough and are privileged enough, the best service I've ever encountered to date in Singapore at an APR was at Cineleisure, the iShop by Club21. All others pale horribly in comparison.

That's why I buy my apple products online. Free shipping, 14 day no questions asked return policy, and can select refurbs.

no Q asked?!?!?!?!

None whatsoever. Anytime within those 2 weeks you are unhappy with your purchase, just give them a call and they will send someone down to your house to collect it. The money will be refunded into your account in a few days.

I did it for my ipad Smart Cover. My friend did so for her MacBook Pro ( regretted and switched to an air shortly after).

Great that you had had asked for an Apple Store in Singapore where hopefully they are not stuffed with foreign employees! Else we'll have to call FT-Store. I believe that Apple will see to it that they are given good training and live up to standard like other Apple stores. Albeit a little harder as Singapore has bad service in general.

On the other hand, I'm also sad that the letter went to Apple as it really highlights the type of service we get in Singapore as a country. Not just the general Apple resellers in Singapore. My experience with the Apple stores in Funan and Parkway Parade is that even if you know them very well, they tend to talk to you like as though we owe it to them and have to beg for information.

Hopefully with the setup of the Store (if it ever comes) it can spur Singapore to higher level of service in general.
