I have a shoulder injury that affect me when I use upper limb.

I took FFI and took the MO. He say ask me go take see specialist.

Now question is this, I ask the NSman consultant. He say I go myself need to pay one, need the referral letter from MO.

How to ask from MO to get referral letter I dont want spend my own money.

your case isn't clear..

since u had took FFI, MO would already had given u the FFI status.

For what a NSman is concern from FFI is IPPT and ICT. So your concern is either or both of that. Which this itself will be addressed by the MO during FFI.

Unless it was something that u highlighted to your MO and there wasn't any medical proof in supporting it, that "NSman consultant" was correct in telling u to find a specialist and he was correct again by saying that u will need to pay for it.

the ONLY way to get free referral and treatment is when u had sustained any injuries during your participation in NS-related activities and not related to any pre-existing conditions.

the main question was when u had sustained the shoulder injury, had u visited any doctor(s) for treatment?

otherwise, your story is as simple as I have this issue, but i want free medical attention. to be honest, i think u are seeking free things that aren't mindef's responsibility.

if during FFI they suspect your medical condition got any issue,
they will have by then refer to see govt hospital doctor for further opinion
if that is indeed the case, then your unit need to issue some memo or something so that you dont need to fork out money when doing the further follow-up as instructed by MO

not sure abt SAF ones in detail but i only rmb for my instance in police NS
during the first FFI at 35, they check and detect my heart-beat something they not comfy supposedly

end up i was refer to TTSH to check for additional assurance and I was given MBIM before the appt date so that technically i dont need to pay for the further check at TTSH.

unless u alrdy have the shoulder issue prior to FFI and you have your own doctor memo, sounds like MO need to endorse and see if your shoulder condition warrants further checks etc
or the other route will be to review your medical status by medical board before adjust your PES etc.

sounds like the diff between you and TS is, they during the FFI, they found some issue, hence they send you.

Whereas for TS, is he complain, not MO discover.

without much details abt TS's situation
hard to suggest if it's pre-existing condition etc

but i suppose if they want to drive the safety message, don't leave things to chance

Think you missed the point.

I’m just saying, for you, they (MO) found something themselves, hence they had to do what they had to do.

While TS, just complained, but they (MO) didn’t find anything themselves, hence suggest TS to go see specialist himself, if he is indeed so concern about his own health.

Can you imagine the precedent it will set, if everyone go complain to MO, then MO just send to specialist for free. Tax payer money burn like crazy.

TS shouldn’t be so stingy over paying for such thing, if TS is so concern about his own health.

SAF does not refer u when u are a nsman if its not service injury
