Hi guys, heres a floor plan of my flat of 20 over years that will be undergoing reno soon, would like to get some suggestions on where is the ideal placement of the fibre termination point if i were to relocate it.

Current TP along with the ONT/router is installed in bed room 2, marked under a green X.

am thinking of relocating the TP as well as ONT/router to living room, installed it at the tv console area, would y'all think this is ideal...?

IMHO.
That is a good idea.
The router in the living room will give coverage to the living, dining and kitchen. The green X you can also but an access point to serve the master bedroom, bedroom 2 and bedroom 3. The toilets is the headache part.

My reno, i created a DB Box in the living room and all the rooms have network points.
I suggest you have enough power points and also you may need to add a fan for cooling and circulation.

i see, u reckon if without access point, only router in living room, master bed room and bed room 2 will have decent or strong coverage?

i suppose for myself/family usage, we will only need wifi coverage in living/dinning, master bed room and bedroom 2/3 though.

IMHO.
When I did mine, I determine the router placement, then draw lines from the router to the location where I need the WiFi. Every wall or wardrobe the line cuts thru, the signal will be weaken. I take the opportunity in the reno to install lan points in the room just in case if i need to put in an AP.

You can also take the opportunity to lay the ground work if you may consider smart home like video door bell, cctv, smart bulbs, etc. Even washing machine becomes an IoT.

If you don't want any additional mesh and only rely on one main router for WiFi, consider putting it at the X area on the wall outside Bedroom 3. The WiFi will be strong in the Living, Dining, and all Bedrooms. It may be slightly weaker in the Kitchen and Bath 2 but that's of the least concern.

Fwah, this layout is identical to my friend's place whom I help to set up in January. Is it in Jurong West 67X?

Her place 1 unit HB710 (Starhub 10Gbps $30.55) at Purple Star (Living room TV console), bedroom 2 (2bar strength) and master bedroom (1bar strength) extremely weak 5Ghz and 6Ghz, if you can tahan 2.4Ghz in master bedroom. Her exact requirement is watching shopee livestream on her bed.

So I suggest, if only 1 HB710 router, do a ceiling ledge at Red Star (Outside Ceiling/Wall, between the bedroom3 and bedroom2 doors). Kitchen wifi might be weak (2.4Ghz dependent), but I think the other areas will be good for 5Ghz.

thank u guys for the suggestions, seems like installing the TP and ONT/router on the wall outside bed room 3 is a safer option if i only want to rely on a main router for wifi coverage.

:unsure:but the wall outside bed room 3 i will have an altar cabinet installed though, wat if i install TP and ONT at TV console, then i get my ID to do a small opening or niche on my altar cabinet and install my wifi router there, i reckon this would be an decent option too...?

Possible. TP and ONT can be separated from the router. Install TP and ONT at TV console area then run cable to the wall outside Bedroom 3 for the router.

Just place near your living room TV console area. 1 wifi router wont be able to cover your whole flat. U nid 3 nodes mesh or 2 AP to cover the whole area.
