Hi guys and fellow NSF/NSMen,

I enlisted on Aug, enhanced batch.

I'll be having my FC and SIT Test next week.

Googled for some info before deciding to start a thread.

Aiming for command school.

I'm aiming to do well for my SIT test as I'm sure it's a pivotal factor to be considered to go into command school.

I'm aware that knowledge of various knots tying method would be beneficial for the "team", but I know nuts about tying them. Will try and figure them out when I'm back in camp.

As of now, any tips or advice the laojiaos can give?

I know wayanging and leadership skills are what SIT test are testing, but there are bound to be some knowledge/skills that can be learned!

Thanks in advance!

fieldcraft knowledge while essential, has no direct bearing on leadership.

if you relate wayanging to leadership, then you better dun go command school.

while some believe leadership can be groomed, you are too late unless you are already doing some form of leadership within your platoon right from the start. if you don't get this, never mind.

IMO, there are 3 important factors to go to command school, and 2 of them are much more important than the 3rd:

1) Good rapport with your section and platoon mates. There will be a voting and polling session where everyone will vote for people that they think should go to command school. To gain their support, you need to be active in helping out, be it taking part in bunk cleaning, or teaching your fellow mates how to pass their tests. For instance, I used to be in NCC so I knew some tips and tricks to strip and assemble a M16. I taught some of my section mates and in the end, a few of us can strip and assemble one in under a minutes (to pass the test, you have to strip the M16 under a min, and assemble under a min).

2) you need to show your commanders that you deserve to go to command school. Some may wayang to their commanders but this will work against you with your peers. Don't forget, your peers is around you 24/7 and they know how you behave when the commanders are around and when they are not. If you are given the role of platoon or section ICs during field camp, then that means you're on the right track.

3) Do well in your IPPT and SIT test. I was in a white horse company and the commanders need to send so many people for command school that if you score an IPPT gold, you're automatically selected for OCS.

To do well for your SIT test, pay attention to the knot testing lesson at the start of the test. You will basically need to tie knots for almost all of your test stations. Hence knowing how to tie will help you alot. Also, keep calm and don't kan choing even if things are not going well.

Don't stress out over your SIT test. i didn't do that well during SIT test but I managed to go to OCS.
