x5 is more neutral and musical. typical TI sig i guess. nothing like the x3. i would take x5 over dx50 any day too. and considering the demo unit i tried was still new.

apparently..the reviewer unit that i hold has a different circuit than the normal retailing unit..

now i am curious..shd i go demo the E1 unit or E1 unit also same as reviewer unit..

update: just got news from Joe@ Fiio and the review unit even though have different circuit but the SQ wise is the same as the retail unit :)

the X5 is indeed more musical, however it sounded more like a single DAC than a dual DAC.

Also, the micro detail retrieving isnt as good as DX50 (v1.2.2).

but in terms of ease of use and UI... X5 has a slight upper hand over DX50 imho lah

review unit no lag , let people play until song, but retail unit.....:eek::eek: press button whole thing freeze

it might need a factory reset? mine initially have some lag...but then after factory reset..everything went smooth..

did u all fill the onboard memory (or did they disable this function) or at least fill it up to 80% capacity and see if the UI is as smooth ?

or use external memory storage at full capacity...

onboard memory? u mean internal storage? x5 dont have internal storage...

but if you talking about the ram......i dont know how to check ram usage..

ya i mean internal storage..

they disable it for the review unit in case pirated copies of music files is found in the unit and they dont wan to be blamed for distribution....... or actual retail unit also dont have ?:eek:

basing on what i have heard on HM901, DX100, and AK120.

dual DAC normally have better cleaner, lower floor noise, wider and deeper staging (the feel of not having a wall to determine the size of the stage, but rather, it feels like an invisible wall), imaging is more precise.

but this X5 is different leh... so it doesnt really sound like a dual DAC compared to 3 listed above.

maybe it is the characteristics of different types of DAC. but... will it make that much of a difference?

Not sure if that would be a fair conclusion as they are all of different makes in the first place. How much is attributed to that extra dac, how much is attributed to better implementation, also duno, unless there is a particular model, one version with single dac, one version with dual and everything else the same.

And btw, dx100 is dual dac? :D

yeap, unless all the DAP using the same dac and implementation, either single or duo

i dont think its fair to conclude like that also

same dac, but different brands might have different implementation also
