File can't be moved to trash

it says The operation can’t be completed because the item “file name” is locked.

i have tried to unchecked the locked option but it is the checked box is dimmed. any advice, pls.

goto disk utility
clicked on first aid
click repair disk

Hold down "Option" key while right click on the file you want to delete, select "Show Inspector", this should go into the file info page and see if you are able to uncheck "Locked".

Also check if your "Sharing & Permissions" are set to "Read & Write".

Once done, the file will be able to unlocked and enable you to delete it...;)

Remove a locked item from your computer

You must unlock the item before putting it in the Trash.

Select the item and choose File > Get Info.
Deselect the Locked checkbox in the General section. If you don’t own the item, you may need to provide an administrator’s name and password.
Put the item in the Trash and choose Finder > Empty Trash. When you see a warning message, click OK.

Press control and click the folder or drag to the trash bin
