Earthquake certified buildings are sat on balls; which allow movement. They can roll on the balls w/o structural damage. Below 5 can only tickle them.

Theoretically, engineers are always right. In Japan, it tells a different story. But the wooden, old, more than 100 years temple survived. Concrete ones, mostly they tear it down after it was deformed, even if it really did survived.

Singapore coastal buildings, those poorly build ones, in time we will hear news about building collapsing.
