firefox cant work

my firefox cant work....

downloaded the latest version, uninstall the old one but still "cant connect"

below is the error message;


Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.search.ask.com.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

any experts can help to advise how to resolve this?

not expert... hav u tried uninstall ask from windows, then reset firefox via about:support (in firefox's address bar)...?

Check your C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file.

See if there's any entry for Ask.com.

Also, is your firewall or proxy blocking access to this server? Have you been accessing it successfully in the past prior to your Firefox upgrade?
