Firefox's high memory

Recently I noticed that my Firefox has very high memory

Always more than 550,000k and at times over 600,000k

That is only when I open 1 single tab

Do you have many extensions or plugins installed? All these get loaded and add to memory usage.

Not sure if your browser cache would affect too, if it has accumulated a lot of cached files which are loaded.
