http://wccftech.com/intel-core-i7-7700k-benchmarks/

The processor in question is the flagship SKU of the Kaby Lake lineup: the Core i7-7700K. It features 4 cores and 8 threads just like its predecessor but will actually be the highest clocked Intel CPU to date. With a base clock of 4.2 Ghz and boost clocks reported as high as 4.4-4.5 Ghz you are looking at what is essentially a factory overclocked monster. It’s even possible that with liquid cooling solutions we will see chips reaching clocks as high as 4.7 Ghz. The i7 7700k has a 95W TDP and is built for the LGA 1151 Socket. So without any further ado, let’s dive down into the benchmarks:

The Geekbench [benchmark] is a general purpose, cross-platform benchmark, and the Core i7-7700K scores an outstanding 6131 score in single threaded performance. To put this into performance, the Skylake based Core i7 6700k scores around 4300 points. This means you are looking at an increase of approximately 42%, which is absolutely bonkers. Of course, we are not comparing on a clock to clock basis so this gain is not only the result of the refined architecture that Kaby Lake employs but also the result of the increased clock rate. Regardless of how the performance gain is achieved, it is a very impressive leap over its predecessor.

Yea but the name still ends with lake so it is not a new architecture

I feel these are just best case scenarios. Real world performance is unlikely to improve as dramatically.

Nah... Kabylake=slightly oc Skylake.

That's all it is.

Lucky if can get 10% improvement from Skylake due to the overclocked frequency.

Don't expect ANY IPC improvements at all.

I will be waiting for them to provide a full public explanation if it turns out to be less than 35% increase in that regard.

Good move. Hope upcoming AMD platform will follow this.

I read that amd zen also might follow the same thing...

But sure got some ppl will come out with some hack to overcome.

Last time windows 7 can't be installed on pentium 4 or older processors because don't have nx bit but some ang mor come up with a patch that disables windows 7 from checking whether the processor support nx bit or not

That one is older CPU to support newer Windows version but now it's the other way round. And it is quite different that Intel is not going to release any Windows 7 hardware drivers for Kaby Lake. So there is no way you can make Windows 7 work properly without proper drivers.

42%?

That sound too good to be true. Even if Kabylake can boost 10% better clock or 400MHz there is still 29% of performance leap unaccounted for...
