I bought a resales HDB using non-citizen spouse scheme (I'm a SC and my wife is a long term pass holder) being me as the owner and she as occupier 2 years ago and she have converted to SPR recently

Does anyone knows if we are considered as first and second timer or second timer if we were to purchase another resales HDB together upon MOP?

If you have not taken any grant for your first purchase, you would still qualify as 1st timer.

However, since your next purchase would still be a resale, it should not be of any concern unless you wish to take advantage of getting the grant if you had not done so previously.

For many others, 1st or 2nd timer would be of major concern if you apply for a BTO.

Hi, I took a housing grant of $25k. I tried to use HDB website to check and it says we belongs to second timer.

I just want to double check with the gurus here as I don't understand why we are considered as second timer for the next resales purchase when my wife is just an occupier and I'm the sole owner for this current resales hdb unit

The reason I'm checking if we belongs to first and second timer is because I thought we may be granted more grant for next purchase since I have re-finaced to bank loan and could use the grant for the downpayment in the event I am unable to time the sale & purchase properly

The point is, you had taken the grant, and that makes you a 2nd timer family thereafter.

Whatever the mix of being 1st timer and 2nd timer applicants, the latter prevails for the next purchase.

If buying resale, you need to plan carefully whether or not to take the grant. Of course, not everyone has a good understanding of how things would work out in the future, so might as well take advantage of the grant first perhaps.
