First time going to taiwan! Help needed!

Hey guys,

this is my first time going to taiwan and although i have gone to taiwan during my NS outfield trip, i have never been to taipei and other place before.

So given that this is my first trip, i would like some of you guys to help me plan my 8 days trip over there. Some criterial is i would like to include a 1 day KenTing (墾丁) trip with an additional "farm stay" like flying cow ranch (FlyingCow) to be thrown in too. Taipei is a def must, but reading so many blogs, i'm pretty confuse over what states are good to visit too.

So maybe some of the places that must be visited in taiwan you guys can recommand, do go ahead and give me some suggestions! Regardless of near or far, if it able to pack into my schedule i would def try to pack it in.

First of all, take a look at the map of Taiwan and see where each city is located. Figure out how long it takes from the northern city to the southern city, by flight or train or bus. Don't say def try to pack it in. Unless you are taking a flight, don't assume it's easy to get from one city to the other.

How much do you know about Kenting? You want to be at which part of Kenting? Hengchun, Checheng, and Manzhou? Or all the way to Nanwan and Cape Eluanbi? A one day trip to Kenting all the way from Taipei? Is it worth it?

That the thing, i was station at Heng Chun when i was in NS for 1 month for overseas army exercise and during our free time, we manage to get to kenting for some nights off. I'm still kinda of enjoy the beach scenery over there but i have absolute idea kenting is so big that it has 3 parts to it. I was thinking of spending 3 days at gaoxiong+kenting with the rest of the days back to taipei+(either another place like tai zhong or something)

I have read through some of the blogs on taiwan itinerary and it seem super confusing with loads of info about where to go. So here's the question, on a first timer trip to taiwan, would covering taipei be good enough? i'm not planning to do much shopping so it's probably going to be sightseeing all the way. What are the place that's def must be visited in taiwan?

Would appreciate all the help i could get!

First time in Taipei, stick to Taipei. If just few days to Taiwan and thinking kaohsiung, it can be done. Transportation cost will be the same as your budget airline return tickets. If you are fine with that, i am sure we can plan for you.

I'm doing 8 days in taiwan, for transportation, i dun think train ticket for back and fore from taipei to gao xiong would cost more than $150? Any idea how much would it cost?

For lodging, i'm planning on airbnb so that would not be a problem as well as i could cater to my budget and cost too. Probably most of my expense would come from food and transport as well.

Price for one way is 90sgd. So two ways or return, can be anything between 120-180sgd.

Think if you buy before 21 days prior to your departure, you can get 35% off.
Hence, the price after 35% discount is 2110 TWD. duration is 1.36.

5 days all in taipei no issue. Enough places to fill all up with a nice pace..cant help much as difficult to post using mobile and still overseas..

Think if you going with family member, can spend abit more. Like myself, quite budget person, can spend abit more on hotel. For example, can book 3 stars hotel at XMD, think sun to thu price for triple room ranges from 60 to 80 or more one night. Quad room sun to thu price ranges from 75 to 100.
Depending on the month you are going, prices varies

1) Airport take uBus705 around 15 minutes to Taoyuan HSR, 30twd one way.
Then from there take HSR to TMS HSR station, 19 minutes. Around 175TWD.
Else you can buses to city area.
For example, to TMS, can take Kuo Guang Bus 125 TWD. Normally you would see a long queue.
If you staying near Shuanglian or ZhongXiao Fuxing area, can take Evergreen 5201 around 35 - 45 min. 150 TWD.
