First time going to taiwan! Help needed!

1) Airport take uBus705 around 15 minutes to Taoyuan HSR, 30twd one way.
Then from there take HSR to TMS HSR station, 19 minutes. Around 175TWD.
Else you can buses to city area.
For example, to TMS, can take Kuo Guang Bus 125 TWD. Normally you would see a long queue.
If you staying near Shuanglian or ZhongXiao Fuxing area, can take Evergreen 5201 around 35 - 45 min. 150 TWD.

My plan is only concentrate on Taipei only,,, any recommendation of hotel/ popular sites for easy getting around site seeing and night market visit...
No plan for other parts of Taiwan like Kaohsiung..

Normally would stay xmd, more things to eat at night .
Stayed before the following hotels:
itrip inn: 90 one night (business room with breakfast with bathtub)
ECFA Kunming: 48 one night (Standard with breakfast)
Go Sleep Hankou: 70 one night (standard with breakfast with bathtub)
KDM: 81 one night (standard with breakfast with bathtub), 30 sec walk to zhong xiao dunhua station.

So far all hotels not bad, Upcoming May end Taipei, staying YOMI, family room 130 one night with breakfast for FOUR ppl ...
Night market can try Shilin, Rao He. You can also go WuFengPu for cheap clothings

Most of the time, my recommendation is stay near Taipei Main Station..To me, Taipei is not about XMD so being near to the main transport hub works better after a day out.

I would reco that you do some basic search then see the place which you're interested in and plan a basic itinerary..We will correct you from there.

Since it is your first trip I'll recommend just doing Taipei. 8 days will be just nice to tour around Taipei comfortable and not too much travelling.

If you really want to do outside Taipei and go Kenting, you can do the following, it is only a rough idea so bear with me.

1) Reach Taoyuan, take bus to HSR. Take HSR to Kaohsiung.
2) Take bus from Kaohsiung HSR to Kenting. (Total travelling time from Taoyuan to Kenting estimated at 4 hours)
3) Stay Kenting 1-2 days, then travel to Kaohsiung by bus.
4) Stay Kaohsiung 1-2 days, then take HSR to Taichung.
5) Stay Taichung for 1-2 days, then take HSR to Taipei.
6) Stay Taipei for the remaining of the trip, then take bus or HSR to Taoyuan Airport.

Let me know if you need more details or if you want to add in other places like Cingjing or Hualien etc and I can advise you accordingly.

I stayed there one night, because day one plan to go wufengpu, raohe market and eslite at xinyi. We alighted airport terminal ONE, then took evergreen 5201 150twd, the bus only 5 ppl queue up. whereas the kuo guang bus that is going to tms have 50+ ppl queue up lol ...

Then the bus would travel pass shuanglian station. By then is already 30min. Then 10min later, the bus would reach opposite KDM hotel. You alight, cross the road.

How is the hotel ?
3 Stars hotel with 100+ rooms. But the room abit old, think the hotel is 30yrs old or more. Choose this because of its location, however, only stayed one night. Room clean and have bath tub. Breakfast is average. Staff are friendly and polite. But staying at level 15 , their wifi kinda super weak.

Location is the key word. 30 second to dunhua exit 4.

Same here too. My second taipei trip free and easy. we stayed at XMD.
Cause TMS hotels kinda expensive.

TMS is like city hall station or KL Sentral , is a place where different types of train would station there.

Maybe you can group those places into cluster then easier for you.
For example, WuFengPu, Raohe, taipei 101, xinyi eslite is all around city hall area/houshangpi area.
Jiufen, Jinguangshi is one cluster....
Shifen, Houtong is one cluster lol ....
