first time travelling to taiwan, got a few questions I wanna ask. Am staying at Daan district near daan part mrt station

1. can I cover jiufen+shifen within a day? meaning morning go and then evening go back to taipei for ningxia night market
ok to take buses/trains from taipei to these places? If so, what time should I prepare to head out from hotel? Am staying at Daan district

2. How do I pay for train and buses? Buy a travel card at the airport? sim cards also buy at the airport?

3. Is it cheaper to get luxury brands over in Taiwan as compared to singapore? either their shops or DFS shops at the airport.

4. Take taxis to hotel from airport is it expensive? I assume they are still using uber over there?

5, just share a rough plan of my itinerary, is it feasible? or am i missing out on any places(if there is time)

day 1 i will reach taipei in the afternoon. check in hotel near late afternoon and will have late lunch at DTF, followed by taipei 101,red house, walk around XMD then head to raohe night market

day 2 - shifen, jiufen and ningxia night market

day 3 - lunch and capybara cafe, then go to dongqu and XMD again for shopping, settle dinner then go shilin night market

day 4 - find somewhere to have breakfast, do some last min shopping before going to the airport.

1. yes... possible... normally what i do is take up day tour package from Klook... at least got private bus or car to transport around... the day tour normally end around 5 to 530pm...

2. You can get easycard which is similar to our ezlink card to use on public transport like bus, metro, or even 7-11.... best to join this contest and hope u win a NTD$5000 easycard... https://5000.taiwan.net.tw/index_en.html

3. I know Porter International is almost 40% cheaper than singapore... For luxury brand in airport, it's only slightly cheaper due to tax free unless got promo... need to do price research before flying there bah...

4. U can choose to take Airport Metro to Taipei main station (then change train to metro station near ur hotel), taxi (i think latest price around NT$1200) or Uber...

5. Looks like a shopping trip plan to me... lol...

For your day 1, why not try to tour around around taipei 101 and dong qu then go ningxia night market...

day 2, after your jiu fen and shifen, then go wufenpu to shop and go over to raohe night market...

day 3, go xmd area, see where else u wanna go to shop then go shilin nm to shop and eat... (this day is quite empty imo)...

Not sure any other experts like to chime in....

thanks for the list, I will tidy up my itinerary according to yours. not really plan for shopping trips lah just dont know where to go in taipei lol. so only can think of 101 beside the usual shopping districts and night markets. not really into musuems and such

my day 3 actually plan to visit 2 places for lunch and dinner and 1 cafe for teabreak, so maybe not empty bah. still thinking if i can squeeze wufengpu in the 3rd day as 2nd day if I take day tour from klook, they can drop us directly off at raohe night market

for the dong qu, i believe OP means Taipei Mainstation Underground malls... recently one of the underground mall got renovated, not sure what are the new stuff added... Imo now TMS underground mall can walk finish quite fast after covid as not really much stuff for me... just a place for my son to go look for pokemon plushies or model toys... You can try to search for youtube video by Taipei Walker on taipei underground mall, this creator basically walk a lot of streets and record video of the area.... you can get a rough idea of what to expect...

for porter international, the 40% is based on my experience cos i bought a bagpack SGD$2xx (after NTD$ conversion excluding tax refund) in XMD Eslite but selling SGD$500+ in Porter Intl SG website...

this is one of the outlet...
Eslite - Ximen1F., No. 52, Emei St., Wanhua Dist., Taipei City 108, Taiwan (R.O.C.)886-2-23898415*Selected items from ADV_LABEL are available for purchase
Mon. - Sun. 11:30~22:00

previously Eslite Spectrum Wuchang level 1 also has porter intl counter but not sure why it's not listed on port international website now... it's quite near to above outlet too... can try and browse around...

I see... still good to do some check on my suggestion... hahaha... scare later give u wrong info...

Wufenpu dun close so early and rather nearby to Raohe nm... unless u dun mind traveling back to same area... :)

then 3rd day can use as spare time for anywhere u like to go again...

It is possible to cover 9-fen and 10-fen in a day. Would you consider to move Ningxia to another day? 10 fen is nice in the evenings with tourists 放天灯.

Some luxury brands are cheaper, need to compare. Last heard a pal mention Dior is cheaper there.
