Hi Guys. Im finalizing my pc build after deciding to move on from my Alienware X51. Below are the parts which I have decided on my own. Anyone can suggest better components without adding more cost? Please note that I would not be overclocking this system and not looking to SLI/xfire.

Asrock H97M Pro 4
i5 4460 with stock cooler (existing)
Superflower Leadex Gold 650
8gb ram ddr3 1600 (existing)
Fractal R5
Samsung 850 Evo 256gb (existing)
WD 1tb hdd (existing)
zotac gtx 970 twin fan (existing)
windows 8.1 oem
Wifi - thinking of using the Dell Wireless 1550 currently on my x51 but not sure if it is possible. (if not then not required)
Dell Wireless 1550 2X2 802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.0 (Kit) : Wireless Router - Find the best wireless router | Dell UK

my first time building my own pc so do highlight any compatibility issues. thanks!

1) What CPU does your Alienware X51 use? If using a LGA 1155 CPU, can try to search around SLS for a B75 or a H77 mobo and reuse the CPU into your new build, save lots of $$$.

2) Samsung 850 Evo is kinda overkill for a gaming rig, can consider the Crucial BX100 256GB for $149 or the OCZ ARC 100 240GB SSD for $154 instead.

3) The Dell Wireless 1550 is a mPCI-E card. Reuse is possible, but you will have to buy a mPCI-E to PCI-E adapter. Not sure where to buy one locally, may have to buy one online.

Can consider Msi gtx970 armor edition instead

Sorry to forgot to state that I am already using the zotac on my current set up so will just reuse.

the current mobo of choice does not have a mpci-e slot? is mpci-e slot only specific to m-itx boards? if i were to get the adapter, is it more worth it to just get a usb wifi dongle?

Bro,

The H97M Pro4 board you plan to buy does not support mini-PCIe card slots thats on your X51 mobo. It's not specific to mini-ITX per se as it is usually used on laptop mobos although some OEM boards support it due to size constraints. A few high end boards also support it such as the Asrock Z87M OC Formula.

Maybe you can look around for such a board with similar price or just go with the converter as suggested by Alternative X if you really wanna use back the Dell wifi+bluetooth card.

Only the more expensive M-ITX mobos would have a mPCI-E slot. Also, the adapter would most likely be significantly cheaper than a USB wifi dongle that can actually deliver the performance of your Dell wireless card.

The installation is pretty straight forward on both an onboard mini-PCIe or the adapter. The same way your remove it from your board, in reverse. Then mount it like any other PCIe card into a free slot.
