Not sure about all these 5 stars hotel(i am a cheapo). But hotels near major transport hubs like Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Tokyo or Ueno would make a better location, transportation ease wise.

Or at least it's along the Yamanotte line. My 2 cents(only visited Japan once, more than 20 years ago :s13:)

if it's just wife and myself, we just take toyoko inn.

business hotel, free breakfast - just that room is small. but we shop the whole day so the room doesn't really matter to us.

most importantly is to stay near a major train station.

been to Japan more than 10 times in the past few years. work and leisure.

Thanks for the recommendation guys but accommodation means alot to me and I am not willing to compromise nor pay a bomb for that, hence the list above (special rates).

The hilton and hyatt is located in shinjuku while imperial is located in ginza.

my top 2 preference currently is the hilton and imperial.

imperial so cheap??
new otani got good reviews, but location still not as good as imperial or park hotel... best location i think imperial, park hotel
depends on whether you like shinjuku shibuya / harajuku , or the ginza type

if you are the ginza type and your trip more focus on the east area of tokyo
then take imperial or park hotel or new otani

if you are the shinjuku shibuya harajuku person, then choose the hotels there

you can consider in between.. hotel niwa, i think only $100+ per night
at suidobashi.. rather good reviews on tripadvisor..

second that , if i want to be near Ginza , odaiba, disneyland then I wil choose imperial or new otani

if i going short day trip out of tokyo and shinjuku, shibuya, harajuku then will stay in shinjuku.

I prefer more middle price shopping area - like myeong dong of Seoul compared to the highend gangnam.

I am pretty sure ginza is where all the expensive shops lie right?

If your really fussy about your hotels, Hilton Shinjuku didn't make the grade for wifey n me (we're quite flexi with hotels..stayed fm 5 star to 3 star). It's a good 20-25 mins walk into shinjuku (iirc). Hotel does have shuttle svc. ANA is in business district tho metro is iirc less than 5 mins walk. Stayed in Okura donkey yrs ago. Nice hotel more traditinal style. Also quite inconvenient iirc.

Care to share more about the hilton? As far as i know, the whole hotel has been renovated recently, and reviews on tripadvisor is very good.

i prefer ginza because more stuff to eat there and walking distance (to me la, easier to navigate) can walk to shintomitcho, ginza itchome, ginza , higashi ginza ,takaracho , shinbashi all these train stations... if stay in ginza

can get lost in whole of shinjuku alone and still want to eat good things, need take train to nearby like harajuku (the walk from harajuku to shibuya not that nice IMO), shinjuku isetan can buy most of your stuffs

I'm more fond of ginza too to be honest, shinjuku seems a bit too "stretched" (based on my research...)

However, comparing the hotels alone.

How about those places that accept 2 adults and 2 kids of age 12/13...i am having a headache of looking for accommodation ...which means i have to book 2 rooms

We once "sneaked" up 4 person up a room before. Was at the millenium hilton seoul.

Checked-in as 2 adult 1 children. Do note that at all HILTON properties, children is considered as 17 and below.

Booked a twin bed room, 2 person each bed, just nice, no squeeze at all!
