I have created a spreadsheet with all the current SGD fixed deposits being offered by all the banks and finance companies. Unfortunately to use it you will have to download it. Publishing it in Edit mode means anyone can come along and delete all my precious data, which is not good.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiGq70Gq9gGddEJHRmtRQUJyYzZKNzd4WkJ0TEx5MUE&usp=sharing

You can enter the amount you want to place, the number of months, your preferred bank if any, and whether you are a senior citizen or not. Then use the Flag and Max filters to see the matching results and the account with the maximum rate/return.

Please tell me what you think and if there are any bugs. If this works I plan to keep the rates updated, so that there will always be a working database on Google Docs.

doesnt seems to work for me...

probably due to the "preferred bank" field where no matching result(s) will be generated if left blank to indicate "any bank"

OK I've fixed that problem. Now the bank and senior citizen fields should work properly when you download the file and open it in Excel.

I've also added ANZ's products. Now the database covers 22 banks.

Thanks man, this is great! :s12:

Minor point for info, I tried to make the interest rates be descending from highest to lowest and my computer keeps hanging (too much info!). No biggie, I just used the filter to narrow the field down and it works fine. :s13:

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah it doesn't work very well because I used quite a brute-force method to do the filter. I am also learning :s22: Anyway, hopefully I can recode the spreadsheet to make it work better.

Meanwhile, if you just want to manipulate the data, you can delete the columns starting from L to the right. It will delete the filter and the sheet should not crash anymore.

Version 2

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiGq70Gq9gGddEJHRmtRQUJyYzZKNzd4WkJ0TEx5MUE&usp=sharing

Now the database consists of two sheets: Filter and Data. You can enter the criteria in the Filter sheet online and it will filter the FDs for you 'live'. You can look at the Data sheet for the list of all the FDs. If you want to do your own filtering, copy the sheet out to your own Google Drive and then you can add your own filter.

Unfortunately, even though this works when viewing online in Google Drive, the filter no longer works offline if you download it as an Excel file. For those who want to use it offline, please save it as an Excel file, then go to the Data sheet, do an AutoFilter, and choose your criteria. Excel's AutoFilter is more capable than Google's.

Self-service please! Thank you.

The old file will be available under the link below as the name "FDs old". It is up to date as of today, but I will be updating only the main FDs file from now on.

Aiyoh, guys, please don't cut and paste or rearrange stuff on the Filter sheet. Just type in the values you want and clear them when done.

By the way, Google Sheets' query formula sometimes has a brain freeze. If the results or the Max Rate/Return are not showing up properly, try entering your values again, or go to cell A9 and press Ctrl+Shift+E.
