Fixing up a Budget PC for normal usage

Hi all,

I am looking to fix up a PC with a Budget of not more then $800. I did some research and these are the parts I will be getting. Are the parts recommended? Or should I make some changes to it? I do know a little on DIY computers, but when it comes to the exact technical details, I don't think I really know much. Hence your input will be greatly appreciated and I hope to learn more through this!

Casing -> Deep Cool Smarter micro ATX ($45) or Cooler Master Elite 311 ATX Casing ($54)
Monitor -> Acer 18.5 inch E1900 HQB ($85)
Mobo -> Biostar H110MHV3 ($89) or Asus H110M-A D3 LGA1151 ($109)
Processor -> i3-6100 3.7Ghz 3Mb LGA1151 ($163)
PSU -> Cooler master elite power 400W ($45)
Ram -> Kingston 4GB PC3-12800/1600 CLII Value Ram ($38)
Hard disk -> Toshiba 500GB 3.5inch HDD ($55) or Toshiba 500GB 2.5 inch ($56)
Keyboard/Mouse -> Logitech MK22o wireless ($26)
Graphic Card (Optional) -> Asus GeForce GT710 2GB DDR3 ($79)

Just some questions,

1. Will all the individual parts fit into the Casing?
2. Is there any difference for the 2.5 vs 3.5 inch HDD?
3. I will try the integrated GPU on the mobo, if it seems to lag, I will get the GC. Recommended?
4. Are there other questions should I consider when deciding on the parts to fix together?

1. No idea, wait for others to answer your queries

2. Size difference, 2.5 inch is usually for laptops. SATA 3 wise should be the same.

3. Skip the GT710. I would suggest you get a second hand old graphics card for better performance for gaming. Entry level graphics card like the GT710 is usually purchased for multiple monitor support. Gaming wise, save the money and skip the GT710. You can look for an old second hand GTX500 series GPU (probably GTX560 or GTX570) for better performance for gaming.

4. Increase your RAM to 8GB. Windows installation use 64Bit.

Get Kaby lake Pentium 2C/4T (G4560 or G4620). Same performance as i3 but about $100 cheaper.

No point getting GT710. It's as good as the integrated graphics, which is good enough.

top up a little bit and get a SSD in addition to your HDD (at least for the OS), even 64G SSD will do.
It'll make a lot of difference.

Juz get those usb wifi, less than $15 in qoo10.

You don't need a graphic card. The onboard one is good enough.

For normal use the pentium G4560 + a H110 mobo with 8GB ram is enough.

Might as well get the MSI H110i Pro AC with built in wifi.

Because if you factor in an ATX or mATX mobo + wifi adaptor, it adds up to be about the same or even more if you want to get an adaptor with AC.

And TS, Cybermind is the only shop with the G4560 listed but whether they REALLY have it or not, I don't know. If not, just wait a week or so. If they listed it it should be coming soon to SLS.

get MSI H110I PRO AC. Built in wifi

i would recommend a 1080p monitor if you can afford it.
Mobo -> Biostar H110MHV3 ($89) or Asus H110M-A D3 LGA1151 ($109)
Processor -> i3-6100 3.7Ghz 3Mb LGA1151 ($163)
wait for the kabylake pentiums, same performance but cheaper.
PSU -> Cooler master elite power 400W ($45)
get the FSP hexa+ instead, the elite isn't good.
Ram -> Kingston 4GB PC3-12800/1600 CLII Value Ram ($38)
Hard disk -> Toshiba 500GB 3.5inch HDD ($55) or Toshiba 500GB 2.5 inch ($56)
Keyboard/Mouse -> Logitech MK22o wireless ($26)
Graphic Card (Optional) -> Asus GeForce GT710 2GB DDR3 ($79) skylake/kabylake's iGPU is better than even the gt730, don't bother with this.

both cases will fit them fine.
2. Is there any difference for the 2.5 vs 3.5 inch HDD?
the 2.5' HDDs will be slower IIRC.

Enough, but not sure if you still can find it brand new. or get 120G SSD at around $65-70

What are you going to use it for? if not installing games, and storing movies, ditch the HDD and get 240GB SSD at around $110 instead. It should be enough for most use.

I got the MSI-H110M mobo and G4560 as suggested. Also got 256gb SSD after much considerations..

It's a friend's computer. Feedback from her is that it is working, so I Guess it does support

Rough figure was slightly less then $230, which puts it in the range of less then $100 for G4560, way cheaper then the option of going for Intel i3 processor
