I recently have been in a situation where I end up having to do a lot of scanning and have become interested with the idea of buying a flatbed scanner.

I managed to find the Canon Lide 400, which I had not bought yet.

I was wondering if I should instead continue to stick with my Adobe app on my smartphone instead.

IMHO.
If scan a lot, an ADF printer that supports scanning will make things much easier.
Of course also depends on what you are scanning.
Flatbed scanners advantages is the consistent light source and flatness.
