Hello folks,

If you stayed at floating houses or over the water accommodation anywhere in SEA region, would you share where/when it was, how much you paid for it and did it worth the money?

Kukup was well worth it.

Price? How to book in advance? How to get there? How much time does it take to get there and cost? Can you get Uber/Grab to go there?

Prices vary according to how many persons you have and the facilities available. They are family-run chalets mostly which provide facilities for groups, like karaoke, BBQ, mahjong tables, like the Aloha resort without the jackpots and pool.

Get there via the 2nd Link and Pontian.
Public transportation :

There is a bus 605 from Pontian terminal to Kukup.

From JB Larkin there is a Maju service that also goes to Pontian only.

Does Australia count? If you're willing to go out of your way a bit, you can rent a houseboat on the Murray River and go boating up and down the river for a few days.

That's might be an interesting idea. Question is - where to leave rental car.

Let me provide a bit more information - I personally do not care about water at all, but my wife appreciates sound of water/waves a lot. At the same time, we won't go in a place for just for that - there should be something else to do and see. Couple of examples where we've been\seen and fits above criteria:

- Hoi An, Vietnam: easily can stay for 3-4 days while staying next to the river
- Khao Sok NP in Thailand - private accomadations run for $200/nigh and more, but there are simpler ones which can be rented for $50/night
- Langkawi. No need to stay at Berjaya of Four Seasons, there are cheaper options available.

So something alongside these lines. Just want to know what other options are

Neither qualify. I really do not know what to 'do' at Batam, considering that we are not interested in shopping and Batam is just overpriced non-Indonesian Indonesia for Singaporeans.

Tioman and Redang are not easily accessible by any means, considering that it will take half of the day getting there and don't want to be trapped on island depending on unreliable ferry schedule.

This resort is nice but I find it abit expensive.

Won't work. 2x-3x times I am willing to pay.

I google kelong kawal.

There are five reviews on TripAdvisor and latest one is dated 3 years ago. Does not look like as a good sign.

Anyway, thanks for help and suggestions, search still goes on.
