World's first AKB48 cafe in Singapore

SINGAPORE: You might have attended their concerts, now dine with them. The biggest pop group in the world, AKB48 from Japan, has set up its very own themed cafe in Singapore - a world's first.

Singapore is the first overseas base for the group.

Local fans get first-dibs at the AKB48 Official Cafe, as this does not even exist in Japan. It joins the Theatre "Live" Series concerts and Singapore Official Store at *SCAPE.

The cafe has been furnished to resemble the original Akihabara theatre in the heart of Tokyo.

While it officially opens next month, three of the AKB48 girls dropped by on Saturday afternoon to the surprise and delight of diners.

Diners can expect more of this to come, on top of the exclusive AKB48 video screenings and the Japanese fusion menu.

Here is my homework.

Pork Ribs in Lotus Leaves - I find it not tender enough and also not enough pieces for each of us.

Water Chestnut Drink - Not the home made kind unfortunately.

Poor Dennyz can only eat this dish and the pork ribs.

Creamy Butter Crab - Compared to Seafood Paradise, this one is not creamy and sweet enough so when dipping the man tou, it just taste a bit plain.

Yam Ring - Marred by the dull ingredients for the filling which are basically 3 types (colours) bell pepper, some mushroom, few pieces of chicken meat and cashew nut.

Crab Bee Hoon - We order two crabs and extra bee hoon.

Herbal Chicken - Another dish that Dennyz cannot eat unfortunately. Tender chicken and not too salty sauce good with rice.

And then it's time for the Birthday boy to celebrate his birthday. Yummy durian cake from Goodwood Park Hotel.

Go ahead and make a wish then blow out the candles.

The cake was too frozen so we had to borrow a knife from the staff to cut the cake.

Crab shells hanging on the wall, seem like some celebrities ate at this place too.

paper wrapped herbal chicken.. chicken is very tender... the soup is also very nice... not too salty and have ginsing taste... next best dish after crab beehoon...
