Hi all

Need to seek your advice... i am using for my company laptop Dell Latitude with a SSD swap from existing hard disk .

I swap with Crucial M500 500Gb...since i join in 2014...

now found space getting little so thinking upgrade 960Gb-1000GB models..

https://www.amazon.com/OCZ-Storage-...0011,p_n_feature_three_browse-bin:14027460011

is this model good? Does OCZ has fine tuning software for their SSD like Samsung magician?
Warranty wise this http://ocz.com/us/support/advanced-warranty
advance warranty thing is it international warranty?

please advice .Thanks

OCZ? They used to fine tune the SSD alright.

http://lkcl.net/reports/ssd_analysis.html

Further investigation then dug up an interesting nugget: it turns out that
OCZ apparently had been warned by Sandforce not to enable a switch in
the firmware which would result in "increased speed". OCZ, in their desperate
attempt to remain "king of the speed wars" ignored the advice that doing so
would result in data corruption. The results correlate with this advice:
at higher speeds, data corruption is guaranteed to occur.

For serious shyt, really, just get Intel.

Really hard to tell reliability. Unless its a long time since the product is out. Like with the 840/840 EVO voltage issue (Small node + TLC issue) causing speed degradation, only really got confirmed very late down the road. The OCZ Trion 150 is also a low nm TLC drive. It remains a question whether other non-samsung TLC drives will be affected by the same issue.

If the data and drive reliability is important to you, stick with the key SSD OEMs, Intel, Samsung and Crucial/Micron.

Performance aside...
Battery life: Samsung
Mild power loss data protection: Crucial (non-enterprise grade)

Otherwise, have you explored the option of going for an mSATA drive if the laptop has a spare mPCIe/mSATA slot? If so, you could use an mSATA SSD as a secondary storage drive.

Note: mSATA and mPCIe physical interfaces are the same, but their electrical pinouts are different. The easy way to find out, check crucial's compatibility tool to see if they have mSATA drive recommendations for your system.

Roughly can tell why the Trion 150 was picked... cost/GB. Price is good, but I'm personally unsure if planar 1xnm TLC will be an issue in the long run.

Perhaps the Crucial MX300 3D TLC drive can be considered when prices stabilise/full lineup appears?

go crucial lor, or wait for amazon goldbox deal then buy? think crucial, sandisk and transcend are quite bang for the buck now, the latter having small power loss protection

TS, do you have a desktop workstation at work? If so, just move your data over to there. In my case, my company issued laptop comes with 256GB SSD, so only OS and app installed on laptop. Data is stored on desktop workstation.

Err.. i think the thread should be left at face value.

It matters.

Ask your boss if he accepts Amazon receipt for you to claim your money.

And if data spoil and you swapped parts, you take responsibility?

Well if company never lock your laptop from installing hardware, then the data probably isn't important, so anything goes.

Company laptops usually have BitLocker on, you can't just connect as USB drive to transfer data back to new SSD.

I personally found bitlocker (hardware based encryption) on Samsung SSDs to be very wonky. Once you overprovision or change something via Samsung magician it breaks bitlocker hardware FDE. I tried 3 times and gave up totally.
