a lot ppl no stop loss acc burst .. only if leverage less than 1:5 - 1:10 then wont i think..

This one goes without saying. The most dulan ones will be the ones with tight stop loss but slippage because due to no guarantee stop loss account. :s22:

Heng today broker never call me sia. Survived another flash crash again. :D

I have the following long positions that experienced few hundred pips plunge in minutes.

AUD/JPY
AUD/USD
EUR/JPY

SGD is now 5% above AUD! These are interesting times.

Now AUD/SGD only -0.67% on intraday.

No currency is safe from rout or flash crash!

SGD is the best safe haven currency. I just looked at a few currencies, they have fallen a lot against SGD. CAD is almost parity with SGD. NZD is 10% lower than SGD, AUD is 5% lower than SGD.

I wonder what the impact of strong SGD will be on the economy. Will MAS loosen its monetary policy?

You are looking at only selected pairs. It is managed against a basket of currencies. As a country that imports most of our goods, a weak SGD can stroke inflationary pressures. The few times the MAS loosened were when the economy suffered a shock or is in recession.

Highly unlikely to loosen. Holding the slope of appreciation is more likely if required.

By the way JPY pairs recovering. The boat has left. Some of the price levels are even below 2008 low! :s13:

The only consolation is I have non leverage JPY holdings in my basket of currencies (non leverage) to hedge.

CAD
CHF
CNY (onshore RMB) <-Not in trading account. Long term passive fixed income at 4% p.a. or more.
JPY
SGD
USD
ZAR

A few years back, a lot of people fell for AUD fixed deposits.

Interest rates were high back then. Upon maturity, their AUD value depreciated a lot too.

Companies like Singtel that generate the bulk of their revenues from overseas markets would be affected. Singtel's earnings are closely tied to Australia, India, Indonesia and Thailand.

A lot of people forgot about risk premium. Higher interest rates means to compensate investors for taking a higher risk.

Same like for CNY. Higher interest rates is due to higher inflation and borrowing costs.
